OSU Honored With AVCA Team Academic Award

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State volleyball team has been honored with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Excellence Award.

The Beavers are one of four teams from the Pac-12 Conference honored, along with Arizona State, Stanford and Utah. Teams were eligible for the honor by maintaining a team grade point average of 3.30 or better during the 2015-16 academic year.

The Beavers finished with a 3.33 mark, including a 3.41 GPA during the spring term.

Oregon State set a Pac-12 record with 12 student-athletes honored academically for the 2015 season. Haley Clarke was named first team, followed by Darby Reeder on the second team. Dana Backlund, Rachel Buehner, Kory Cheshire, Katelyn Driscoll, Sydney Francis, Maddy Gravley, McKenna Hollingsworth, Mary-Kate Marshall, Lanesha Reagan and Lila Toner were named honorable mention.

The Beavers have 85 all-academic honorees since the 2005 season, which leads the Pac-12.

OSU was one of 132 NCAA Division I teams to earn the team academic honor.
