Beavers are one of two Pac-12 teams with multiple honorees
CORVALLIS – Oregon State men's soccer players Timmy Mueller and Nathan Braaten have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.
Mueller, a junior business major with a 3.80 GPA, was also named to the Academic All-District Team in 2015, as well as the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team. The forward is one of most prolific scorers in Oregon State history, currently sitting at 46 career points on 20 goals and six assists. Mueller has made the Pac-12 First Team the last two seasons, and has two career hat-tricks.
Braaten, a sophomore from Highlands Ranch, Colo., makes the Academic All-District Team for the first time in his collegiate career. The pre-business major has a 4.0 GPA, the highest of any player on the District 8 team. Braaten's year has been highlighted by his first career goal, which came against California on Oct. 6. He has appeared in 11 matches this season, playing a total of 270 minutes.
Oregon State joins California as the only Pac-12 teams with multiple players on the Academic All-District squad. This release also marks the fifth time in history that the Beavers have placed more than one player on the CoSIDA All-District team.
The Beavers are back in action Thursday evening, as they head to the Bay Area for a matchup with Stanford. That game will air live on Pac-12 National, Pac-12 Oregon and Pac-12 Bay Area at 5 p.m.
