Senior Tabbed As One of Nation's Top Point Guards
CORVALLIS – Oregon State senior guard Sydney Wiese has been named to the Preseason Watch List of the Nancy Lieberman Award, which honors the top point-guard in the country.
Wiese, who was also named to the watch list in 2014-15, is one of 20 players recognized by the Lieberman Award as potential candidates.
Wiese is a three-time All-Pac-12 honoree, and is already closing in on the conference record for career 3-pointers. The Phoenix, Ariz. native sits 10th in Oregon State history with 1,276 career points, and is fourth with 463 assists. Wiese was an All-America Honorable Mention, Pac-12 All-Tournament honoree and All-Dallas Regional selection in 2015-16.
The Beavers are coming off a 2015-16 season that saw them make the first Final Four in program history. Along the way, Oregon State notched Pac-12 regular season and tournament titles, and set a school record with 32 victories.
Oregon State will open the 2016-17 season against Lamar on Nov. 11. Tickets for all Oregon State home games can be purchased online at BeaverTickets.com.
