Artavis Pierce scored an 18-yard touchdown in the third quarter
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Artavis Pierce and Hunter Jarmon each scored and the Oregon State defense held No. 21 Utah to 88 yards in the second half but the Beavers were edged by the Utes, 19-14, Saturday afternoon at Reser Stadium.

The teams combined for only 614 yards of total offense on a blustery and sometimes rainy Saturday at Reser Stadium. Oregon State managed 55 yards of offense in the first half as the Utes went into the locker room with a 12-0 lead.

The second half turned to the Beavers' favor. While the defense held Utah to 88 total yards, the Oregon State offense tallied 242, including 143 on the ground.

Pierce, who rushed for 60 yards on nine carries, provided the Beavers' first entrance into the end zone when he carried the ball in from 18 yards out with 9:46 remaining in the third quarter.

Utah scored with 3:18 left in the fourth quarter when Troy Williams rushed from 8 yards out. Oregon State answered when Marcus McMaryion found Hunter Jarmon from 14 yards out. The score came with 1:40 left in the fourth.
Victor Bolden led the Beavers with 61 yards rushing, on seven attempts. He also led the team with three receptions for 25 yards.

The Beavers return to action next weekend when visiting Washington in Seattle. The game is set for a 3:30 p.m. PT kickoff on Saturday, Oct. 22. The game will air live on the Pac-12 Network and Pac-12.com.
